1. Dry Season (November–April) ☀️

This is the best time to visit Phuket.

• Low humidity
• 27–32°C
• Very little rain

Sea

• Calm water
• Excellent visibility
• Most boat trips operate daily

Perfect for

• Discover Scuba Diving
• Racha Islands
• Phi Phi Islands
• Similan Islands (October–May)

This is also Phuket’s busiest and most expensive tourism season.

2. Hot Season (April–May) 🔥

The hottest time of the year.

Temperature

• Often 33–35°C
• High humidity
• Afternoon thunderstorms become more common

The sea is still generally calm, making it a good period for diving before the southwest monsoon strengthens

3. Green/Rainy Season (May–October) 🌧️

Many visitors imagine nonstop rain, but that’s usually not what happens.

Typical pattern:

• Sunny morning
• Clouds build in afternoon
• Heavy rain for 30–90 minutes
• Clear again later

Some days are beautiful all day, while tropical systems can occasionally bring longer rainy periods.

Advantages

• Hotels are much cheaper
• Fewer tourists
• Less crowded beaches
• Lush green scenery

Disadvantages

• Rough seas
• Red flags on west coast beaches
• Boat trips may be cancelled
• Lower underwater visibility at exposed dive sites

Water Temperature 🌊

The sea stays warm year-round:

• 28–30°C
• Most divers use a 3 mm wetsuit
• Some experienced divers are comfortable in a rash guard during the hottest months.

• High season isn’t guaranteed perfect weather.
• Low season doesn’t mean bad weather every day.
• Safety decisions are based on actual sea conditions, not just the season.
